exhibition . new work

As I mentioned before, I've been working on a series of photographs focusing on Daniel Burnham's 1909 Plan of Chicago. I recently had the opportunity to exhibit them at Murphy Hill Gallery in Chicago. The show is up until April 18th, check it out if you get a chance. The photographs are black and white pigment inkjet prints (epson 7600 with Calumet's Brilliant Lustre paper) 24x24" (actual image size: 22x22") in hand made white frames.

I have some new photographs that I am working on as well, that I will be showing at Murphy Hill Gallery in the near future. The photographs are still in the works, but they are far from what I've been doing, and completely different from work that I've done in the future. I'll be sure to post some here as the series' becomes more developed.

I've been doing a bit of updating to the site, and I've added two full galleries of the BVRNHAM and Overlooked projects. Artist statements and captions (for overlooked) will be up there soon.

leica

As of tomorrow, I will be joining the ranks of Leica owners. I have sold my Nikon 35mm equipment as well as my Hasselblad Xpan (the wide format camera used on the "movie stills" project). This means that you'll likely see a large surge of 35mm photographs here, of course in my usually preferred high speed black and white.

In other news, I am going to be finishing up an edition of 20 prints on my newest project "BVRNHAM" - a series of photographs concerning the 100th anniversary of Daniel Burnham's 1909 Plan of Chicago. The photographs look at the 1909 plan and compare the Chicago of 1909, the Chicago proposed, and to the Chicago of 2008/2009.

photos

This has been a great week so far, i've been working on a new section for CS Magazine, the nightlife section. They had this section in their June 2008 issue, and it was a success, so they've asked me to shoot this one, and it has been great.

We've been shooting at the most amazing bars/clubs in Chicago, below is a photo of the crew at Aria in the Fairmont Hotel - from left to right: michael, april, myself, rachel and lindsay.

Two more days left on the shoot, then it's a week + of post production. Expect to see these photographs in the nightlife section of the November issue of CS.
